  • What Does a Victory at 46 do for Pacquiao?

I love Pacquiao and although I miss watching him fight, I understand the risks boxing presents any fighter especially older ones. But the fight against Mario Barrios is official and I can't really do anything but hope for the best. With that being said, what does a victory do for Manny Pacquiao at 46? Barrios isn't the strongest world champion at 147 pounds but he's a world champion nonetheless and ranked among the top 5-15 welterweights in boxing today depending on the ranking board. Manny Pacquiao is 46, four years removed from his last fight. He's a hall of famer with a storied career. There's no need to mention his accolades and who he's fought. But, at 46 what will a win against a top 15 fighter for a world championship do for Manny Pacquiao? Does it elevate him even more?

It's a big achievement even if it is a bum like barrios. But also a big embarrassment if he loses.

It's just a thought experiment, because he's going to get the absolute dog crap beaten out of him.

DLH said pac was toughest he fought, cotton said it, Ssm said it too. It's not a big embarrassment of he loses.

A win at 46 sets Pacquiao up for destruction at 47 if he tries to unify.

Pacquiao is 46, got beat up by a kickboxer in an exhibition the last time he was in the ring, and got schooled by Yordenis Ugas in his last pro fight four years ago. And then Barrios beat down Ugas and retired him.

Disagree about big embarassment. Even losing to Ugas wasn't an embarassment as he was all ready old and past his best. Now this is another few years on and 47 this year, if he wins, huge win, even though Barrios isn't the best he is still a decent fighter and a lot younger fighting a 46 year old who last fought 5 years ago and looked like s*** then. If he loses nothing happens no embarassment no hit to his resume (lots of greats ended their careers fighting too long and taking Ls at the end no one talks about those Ls they talk about their prime)

Well the ugas was a bait and switch considering ugas was training to fight a southpaw and his original opponent was a righty. Yeah I agree with the last sentence since alot of past great lost to younger fighters but that was passing of the torch and they lost to great fighters. Mario isn't one of them.

                    Barrios is trash.
