as for the cause of his suicide, likely caused by something that the baby mom’s did. I know that’s weak but that’s what I always remind women when they discuss toxic masculinity, without ever wanting to
discuss toxic femininity.
Of the men I've known to of committed this act it's always been related to "losing" their children, an all too common tale sadly.
it was likely a case of the mother of his child threatening to take his daughter away from him in a low moment and it unfortunately being the straw that broke the camels back.
it's imperative the we as men discuss this type of stuff more frequently particularlywith June beingMen's Mental Health Month.

Powerful article and also incredibly sad. I remember watching The Contender and vaguely remember Mora's first fight but I don't remember Najai. Boxing has it's fair share of sad tales...RIP champ.
Yeah I remember watching the show and after when they said he passed away it was really sad because he was only very young and he was trying to build a career and support his daughter and all the problems that went along with that were just way to much for him to handle at a young age. Was a shame because he was a decent fighter was abit hard done by aswell getting the fight he got against Mora in the first round of the show because Mora was so much bigger than him.
I am very, VERY sorry you and your family had to live through a tragedy like that. I lost a step brother to suicide, and it bothers me to this day even though I was just a kid when it happened. Senseless. That is always the phrase that covers most of the emotions when it all comes back. Just truly senseless.
Eric Raskin did an amazing job with this article. Well written, but not glossing over the situation.
