Once again proof that an Olympic gold medal doesn’t automatically mean success as a pro

Both Galal Yafai and Francisco Rodriguez are around the same age. 32 years old and 31 years old respectively.

Yafai walked into the ring with an extensive amateur background behind him, having competed at the Olympics in Rio and won gold in Tokyo.

While as far as I know Francisco Rodriguez Jr never had much of an amateur career. But he had a big edge in experience at the professional level.

Prolonged time in the british amateur system is not conducive to the pro ranks. They lack the fluidity necessary to adjust in the pro game.

Rodriguez' accuracy had no time for Olympic credentials.

Those credentials certainly didn’t mean much in this fight.
