In all honesty, given Yafai's age this might have been the end of his career, not because of the fight itself but building himself back up from this might take too long for him to dream world champion ever again. Don't wanna be that armchair hindsight quarterback but maybe Sunny indeed was a broken by Bam and a thing of the past when Yafai fought him...?

I thought so back then but was willing to give the benefit of the doubt and credit that Yafai may have been special as well, even if not Bam. Turns out indeed Sunny was truly a broken shell and probably would've lost to anyone in the top tier of the division at that point. Curiel who he fought in his come back in between was a former 108 beltholder but he really only got it due to a super lucky upset of a cherry pick gone wrong for Nontshinga, who understandably immediately lost the direct rematch so he was more like a Bruno Surace position than a true "former champion" so to speak.

By the way, off topic but I am still VERY pissed that friggin Ayala was rated above Teraji and Akui preventing the unification to have been for the Ring. Teraji should be a two division Ring champion at this point, and the current rankings of 1. Teraji 2. Akui 3. Yabuki should be really Teraji champion.

The Ring belt is nothing more than a promotional tool of the Saudi royal family. The TBRB championship is the true divisional championship and has been since the organization was founded.

True but I mean the "Ring champion" title is the only thing making Pacman an eight division champion although he technically only won six alphabet divisions.

Not trying to take away Pac's legacy because the opponents he beat for them were legit, but more trying to make the point that Teraji should be considered the lineal champion right now post Bam, and a two division lineal means more to his resume than two division unified, one division lineal especially when you consider the rarity of it.

Which, with hindsight included, REALLY is the ******ity especially when you consider at the time the fight happened, the 4 beltholders were Teraji, Akui, Ayala, and Olascuaga. That Ayala was rated above Teraji or Akui let alone BOTH by any organization was pure ******ity.

...Frankly I think the bottomline of my irritation comes from how much Ayala was overrated by Ring even prior to his whipping from Yabuki, now to think of it.
