  • Comments Thread For: Nonito Donaire gets by Andres Campos to win interim title

Nonito Donaire is once again in the title picture just one fight into his comeback, even if it was accomplished in anticlimactic fashion Saturday in Buenos Aires.

What an absolute scam. Id be furious if i was one of those fighters paying the fee's, grinding my way up the rankings only to be fuqed over by some has been 10 years past his prime and a guy not even ranked by the WBC. What an absolute scam.

WBC is a joke too, but this was a WBA event.

He couldn’t beat a 42 year old boxer on the score cards. Why should he be fuming? Campos clearly wanted a HOFer to pad his thin resume

I don’t think Campos had any say in picking Donaire as his opponent and just took the opportunity presented to him. He’s fought at 118 a few times mostly early in his career and it’s be 3+ years since his last fight at 118. He’s been at 112-115 most of his career .

He shouldn’t have gotten the interim title shot either

The WBA very quickly made a mess of this division.

              Tsutsumi is Champion-In-Recess
              Vargas has the WBA title
Donaire has the WBA interim title
Higa is getting the next title shot

I think Vargas is the worst of the four guys and he has the strap.

Personal liking aside, Vargas getting WBA interim then moved to official when Tsutsumi became Champion-In-Recess due to his surgery was understandable.
Higa getting a title fight against Vargas in general is understandable as well, as long as the winner fights Tsutsumi in the winter.

This Donaire for WBA interim is what makes it absolutely WTF quality for WBA and their greediness.

We didn't need an interim belt for Vargas in the first place and Tsutsumi didn't need to be demoted to Champion-in-Recess so quickly. He just defended the belt and hasn't even been champion a whole year, as long as he could've defended it within a year there was no need to strip him.

Vargas has done nothing to warrant world title consideration. His resume doesn't even qualify as paper-thin. He's a manufactured contender and I'd take any of Higa, Tsutsumi, or old man Nonito to stop him early.

Make Nonito vs chocolatito the co feature to Canelo vs Crawford.

They are washed up, but its still a war.
