  • Edwin De Los Santos got paid.

Not sure if it’s been posted, but I remember hearing he was getting his full purse and then that he wasn’t getting paid at all.

I’m sure DLS would’ve preferred to fight and get his whole purse, but glad he got some of it .

They should pay him. He did everything he was contracted for and they have to pay for training expenses

Good for Santos. Got robbed against Shakira and now a classless thug misses weight. Seems like top rank kinda had to do it for good publicity

I already mentioned this here on fight night while Bradley and TR panel were discussing Davis' lack of discipline. Bradley was recounting a similar experience in Mexico where his opponent failed to make the weight twice in the day and the subsequent call off of the fight, that he didn't get paid for the cancelation, etc.

I thought the standard rule was that as long as boxers made it to weigh in and came in at the contracted weight the promoter was obligated to pay them, even if the other fighter failed to hold up to their end of the contract. The "show money" clause I believe it's called.

Which is why promoters will prefer to cancel a fight before weigh-in, but that does screw over the fighters who have spent time and money on training camps. It's what happened to all the undercard fighters for the originally scheduled Eubank Jr vs Benn fight. And it was good of Eubank to give some money to them - even if it worked out at a few grand per fighter. Shame Fast Eddie didn't do the same, but that's to be expected.

I wonder if you heard Eubank Jr paying cash to those undercard participants in the first failed Eubank / Benn fight attempt.

I posted he got paid his full purse that day too, cause that’s what Keith Idec reported on X/Twitter , but then Rafael said he didn’t get paid and things were being discussed. Not saying it wasn’t confirmed, but the tweet posted here from Rafael was from yesterday finally confirming as far as I know.

Good for him, he deserves it, especially with how inactive he's been kept.

For what it's worth I've heard several fighters say that Hearn has done exactly this, handing them a cash payment after their fight fell through at the twelfth hour, despite having no obligation to do so.

Not according to Eubank Jr when his fight with Benn got canceled.

Eubank pays undercard fighters from his own pocket...

I agree. It should be a recourse for the other fighter breaking contract. I suppose injury wouldn't trigger that, (although maybe it should have some kind of provision too). But he has expenses and a team, and spent ti.e training and potentially missing some other fight for this matchup.

                    That's all money.
