I have nothing against fighters whose style isn't entertaining to casuals. I can respect a hit and don't get hit merchant.
But they have to accept that this isn't just a sport. It's prizefighting. You don't get opportunities just because you're good. You need to develop a following and bring some commercial value to the table.
See, there is nothing wrong with 'hit and don't get hit' type of fighters, problem is with the fighters that all they do is avoid getting hit, little to no action, no killer instinct ,zero commercial value type of fighters.
Why is the blame always on the boxer talented enough to "hit & not get hit" & not the fighter who's not talented enough to cut off the ring?
Y'all complain, but Duran, Chavez, Armstrong, etc. . .would cut off the ring on Stevenson or Haney & force them to fight.
THAT is what real pressure fighters do.
Nothing wrong with them, just dont ask to headline ppv or big fights cuz audience doesnt pay for that..
floyd was an exception, like it or not he will stay in your face at times. And his annoying personality will sell ppvs for good or bad..
Usyk is a hit and don't get hit fighter and he's entertaining.
Even Floyd some people called him boring but he wasn't boring imo, he was a spiteful puncher on the counter.
These new age dudes really do just play patty cake
People said the same thing then.
They said Floyd was boring, Pernell was boring. Hopkins was boring. Andre Ward was boring.
Unless you're a Tyson or an Ali type Black fighter who either runs his mouth & plays the villain or knocks people out, they're going to call you boring/
