Comments Thread For: Paulie Malignaggi?s Picks: Under-appreciated Mike McCallum was a true great

Mike McCallum is often overlooked when the greatest fighters in history are discussed, but it?d be fitting if his death led to followers of boxing revisiting his fights and appreciating how great he really was.

I remember him being interviewed by a boxing magazine and they said “you did so well to take Jackson’s shots” and mccallum was furious, saying “there is nothing good about taking punches, you’re meant to train to not take them punches”. McCallum really knew boxing inside out, his sparking of Don Curry is almost legendary. Feint to the body then one huge uppercut and that was all she wrote. He was a legend and one of the greatest fighters of all time, legit.
