Social media is crying robbery: "Justis for Huni!!!"

Crying abound of early stoppage by the frank warren ref, should huni have been allowed to go on?

Huni didn`t complain, did he? I think the stoppage was good.

Once he gets his wits about him again he probably will.

Huni was all class. He won't complain. You're talking about a lifetime boxer from the Commonwealth - not a gobby septic.

But when a guy is 6 or 7 rounds up and on his feet at 8 or 9, then I think you at least have a decent look at him rather than waving it straight off.

It was definitely a convenient stoppage.

Not necessarily incorrect, but the context does matter.

It didn't look like he beat the count to me. You need to get to your feet before 10 not at 10 if you look at a photo of the count the referee is at 9 and Huni is steadying himself to rise there is no way he beat the count IMO.

People online are saying because Huni was winning he should have been given longer than 10 seconds to recover

This is why you give the ref a little extra pocket money, for moments like this. Think the count was a little quick but you can’t complain too much, unlike that Bruno Mungiua first fight, that count was done by the ref on speed

Happy to be corrected but it looked like the referee was finishing the count when he was up and then waved it.

I think at that point a fighter in that position should at least get a "show me you're ok to continue" from the referee.

It might have all ended up irrelevant. Wardley is a scary guy when his opponent is in trouble. But it only needed a couple of seconds for the referee to check - and I don't think anyone would deny that the referee was very happy to not bother with that.

The question should have always be asked if the fight would've been stopped the other way too if they were in the same position (Fabio winning every round, then Huni landed), and the answer would be no, the fight would've gone on, let's face it.

                    100%.

There is no way that Wardley wouldn't have got the "can you continue?".

To be honest, it might not have made a difference to the end result, but you give the guy a chance in that circumstance. That was an exceptionally keen stoppage. He quite literally couldn't wait to end that fight - he didn't even get as far as 10.
