Too many stinkers lately in boxing

There was edwards v cain, haney v Ramirez, garcia v rolly, canelo v scull and now the other night sharp v hughes. I hate to say it but i think the sport is dying fast

Smaller rings, more points taken off for hugging.

Solid post from a solid man. Hey OP, tune in to Pac-Barrios if you want some excitement, it's going to be 10x better than the 5 de mayo stinkers.

Yeah, this year I really see it to be true, boxing is dying. Boxers just aren't popular and lack promotion. Subpar mma fighters are bigger household names.

Boxing isn't dying there's just been a bad run of fights lately

Turkey needs to stop giving money and platforms to runners though that's for sure.

Every combat sport goes through peaks and valleys. Youre not gonna get FOTY every single weekend. Boxing isnt dying and its not going anywhere

I get the sense that some of these fighters (and their promoters) are thinking/hoping bad performances will rub off on Turki''s venture and not the fighter. That they can go in and stink up Turki's show and come back home and everything will be OK.

Unlike the LIV tour in golf where I hear golf people say those wins/losses in LIV don't matter, nobody cares. I think it's different in boxing and these performances will follow these guys around. Haney/Ramirez + Ryan/Rolly were beyond bad fights, they looked very odd.

Won't get much. Plant and Charlo fighting journeyman. The next 2 big fights commercially are a 46 year old vs Barrios and Canelo vs a welterweight

                  I agree with this, sadly.

After Cinco De Mayo weekend, I felt that gut punch and was forced to step back and look at the bigger picture. Boxing is just a popularity contest and a cash grab for these younger fighters who could care less if they're proven or not.

With the monster ego blow of social media 'talking bad' about these young fighters, they're reluctant to perform at a higher level due to their frail egos and hiding from criticism. They'd rather make money off of the idea of fighting the next best man, rather than fighting said man.
