  • Comments Thread For: Ambitious Christian Mbilli unwilling to wait in the wings

The past few months have been very eventful for Christian Mbilli, leaving him even more determined not to wait on the outcome of Saul Alvarez-Terence Crawford

The belts at 168 needs to start enforcing mandatories... only the IBF does, and for trash boxers like Scull... Where is the WBC, WBO and WBA? Benavidez and Morrell had to skip divisions because of their coddling of Canelo... As least make him fight the next best boxers in the division like Mbilli and Pacheco.... We don't want more Berlanga and Munguia fights...

At 175 WBC stripped Bivol when WBC is 3rd in the rotation, and at 122 the WBA enforced MJ as mandatory... Canelo is just chilling...

If Mbilli is to have any chance at one of the belts he needs to keep busy vs top names of the division
Fighting thé Pole or Sergey D can only take him so far as they past their expiry date

if you trust that the fighters who MBilly wants to fight are keeping away from him (and i do not argue it) then this one should be a good show piece for BillyBoy to shine on with. And as was mentioned above he needs to keep busy to one sharpen his skills or rough edges but two to keep his name out there call it exposure ,.,,,, after the promo boys and the platform girls get thru with a fighters push to get to the top ahead of the cushion boys.......... it can be tough to have a decent match up if you are scary in any way be it from power or real skills.

I don't think that there are many ,if any , top guys willing to fight Mbilli and take a chance on losing their position in the Canelo Sweepstakes. In some ways having an undisputed Champion is good, in others it's bad. It wouldn't be so bad if the Sanctioning bodies were all on board with enforcing their mandatories.

I like this. Sulecki has a good record and is coming off a win (not 2 or 3 ko losses like some contenders want to face nowadays), and it does give Mbilli the chance to be measured against pacheco by a common opponent.

Mbilli and EoTT are not exactly innocent either
Trust me they’ve had their fare share of fugh ups
They might need Top Rank to help them out on this one since they have co-rights

I remember mbilli refused to fight Morrell Jr, twice, he never enforce his mandatory status.

That Mbilli is 30 years old mans he has to have a sense of urgency. No way he can milk a win for 8 months then fight a scrub waiting on the Bank of Canelo to pull up. Take fights. Be busy. Your earning days are now. Take what names are there and stay busy. You are likely to never get Canelo money. Gonna have to earn your own. He is talented enough he could do it if he stays focused. Hope his team is honest and realistic.
