ShoulderRoll is determined to believe Americans are more sophisticated than the British, when by any objective measure the US population is the most ignorant and uncultured in the western hemisphere.

It's the only western country where Christian fundamentalism remains a significant force, with young earth creationism taught in schools. There is no high art or much of a literary tradition (with some exceptions) to speak of. The main national food symbol is a cheeseburger. One of their most popular actors is The Rock who performs in ham fisted 'action' movies. They celebrate 'famous for being famous', vacuous, plastic faced weirdos like the Kardashians.

They think the ready ability to shoot each other dead is the price of 'freedom'.

Another resentful American? Nothing has any intrinsic meaning, if you really want to be philosophical about it.

I doubt there is a third fight but if there is, those interested will watch it, and you can polish the cache of guns in your farmhouse basement ready to shoot the UN with.

Well done Dave , robbed first time . Hard to match Allen , seen him in some terrible contests over the years some from ringside , strange and pretty clever lad in the boxing world but you never know which 'Dave' is going to turn up .At his best he beats lively novices like Fisher at his worst he looks like a promoters nightmare. He said it himself he'll 'win a few ,lose a few at this level' , I think he's slightly better than that ....when he wants to be !

He reminds me of a poor mans Oliver McCall, not quite as durable and naturally as large but a similar career trajectory at a lower level.

It’s the Saudi money. Same problem in the US. Everyone is just waiting around for Saudi funded events, both promoters and fighters. As a result there’s no quality shows being scheduled outside of the Riyadh Season wrapper.

Pretty sure it’s a Saudi backed event but not 100% sure tbf.

The fact Allen was pushed is quite comical really, because he’s terrible.

I was at his first fight with Lenroy Thomas aswell, also shocking.
Yeah I was at the Thomas fight too, I actually got Thomas by decision in play at 33/1. Apparently Froch had Allen 5-6 rounds up on commentary, hence why Skybet were offering crazy odds.

He’s literally just a big durable lump with no boxing ability.

I remember when he upset an undefeated Nick Webb and followed that up with a demolition of Lucas Browne...he was matched to beat Pricey and went into that one absolutely unmotivated (I think he blamed a back injury) and lethargic.

They do hype guys like Johnny up, but that's promoting I guess, as they did with Jared Anderson. That said, nothing but respect for them, they are in a tough business.
Not a bad comparison you have there: Anderson and Fisher. Anderson may have more natural talent but Fisher's head is screwed on tighter. Nevertheless, they're both going essentially nowhere higher than where they are now.
Agree about the respect. Fisher went down fighting in a brutal sport. Win or lose he's got them balls.

Good for him. He deserved some redemption after getting robbed on the first fight. Both are clearly domestic level fighters who will never make it on the world level, but at least the domestic scene in the UK is reasonably profitable.
