I have no ****ing idea how the thread went in this direction and cant be bothered to find out, but the only people that give a **** about 1776 are Americans, because its basically their origin story and source of their identity as a distinct nation, even though it was essentially a British civil war and the majority of modern day Americans werent even in the country yet.

For Britain and other countries that actually have thousands of years of history, its a drop in the ocean.

That's fair to say. Americans typically don't expect others to celebrate our independence day, and why would we? It is central to our origin story, as you put it, and not, say, that of Myanmar or Ecuador or Nigeria.

The American Revolution was in no way a British civil war, though. It was the casting off of the imperial hegemony of an oppressive European power and the establishment of a new nation with a new identity; one without any desire to be a part of its former masters territory or rule.

And yes, at 249 years now since the US Declaration of Independence, our presence on the world stage is relatively recent. But what a profound impact we have had in such a short time, in every facet of life.
