Anyone else feel like Top Rank is dropping the ball with Richard Torrez?

What can they do to bring his skill to the next level? New Trainer?

Why does it feel like they are not pushing him with the same gusto as Jared Anderson?

He should hit up Robert Garcia to refine his ability to get inside.

They don’t think Torrez has as high a ceiling.

They’ve been trying to build him into a solid regional attraction to fill out undercards - they don’t think he can win a world title. They do this with PR fighters in NYC all the time.

I really like Richard. Exciting fighter, fearless, down to Earth and well-mustached.

He's also careless and in desperate need of being fine-tuned as he's a KO waiting to happen. I don't think he can go any further with his Dad; they are in a comfort zone and he's only going to continue making silly mistakes until he's KO'd or until a sharper trainer gets their hooks into him. I hope it's the latter.

He's wild when in close. I think he would benefit from Robert Garcia.

They should advise him to change trainers

I rarely see a lot of clean work in his fights. He smothers himself a lot, never really any flow that I've seen.

Maybe he can clean it up. It got me thinking of the recent performance of Gary Antwune Russell and how he fought vs Valenzuela. Looked like he put a lot of work into not coming in wide, stepping from too far, getting wild, smothering himself, it made a huge difference and framed his work. (BTW I didn't mean to use an example where the Robert Garcia fighter lost when you're specifically suggesting RG for Torrez LOL). But those similar kinds of improvements would be good to see.
