He may be the best welter on earth today, even better than Crawford. But because he's Eastern Euro and Golovkin like great, he cant get any big fights vs. any big names who are all running scared. Same deal that happened with Golovkin in his prime, he couldn't get Cotto, Martinez, Floyd, Quillen, Canelo or anyone who was marquee during his prime and so we never really saw Golovkin at his best. Same thing now with Yeleussinov, his prime is being wasted with inactivity and meaningless fights. The discrimination against great Eastern Eurp fights, Alimkhanuly too, is a horrible injustice. The best fighters on earth today are being developed in Eastern Europe. Somehow Usyk managed to sneak through the discrimination but the boxing establishment will not make that mistake again. Tank ducked Loma forever too is another example of it

If some non established outsider fighter comes out of Uzbkekistan and KOs everyone in 30 seconds including a few name fighters, he will get blackballed for being too good. Best welterweight is a stretch, he didn’t look great early in his career, but he was starting to look like the prospect he was being hyped up as, then Covid hit and he left Matchroom .
Only fought one pro bout and IBA bout since. Again to say he’s the best is a stretch, but it’s a shame his prime years have been wasted away and we’ll never know how good he really was or wasn’t .
