Really enjoyed the fights last night. I think this tourney is going to generate loads of headlines barring any hiccups. As far as talent I think there are a couple really good fighters, not great. The talent pool at 168 is so thin, maybe because the division is in no man's land. I also think there's a gap in seasoning between the fighters--but that's what makes this tourney great. Some of the younger guys may look a lot better down the line and one might even win it all.

As of now, none of them are 'great' fighters, but that could change after this is all said and done.

Andre dirrell impressed me a lot

Hes quick, throws good sharp punches. Has descent pop. Even though he cried to the ref, it's obvious he's tough and won't fold under pressure.

It's interesting to hear you say that. And i respect your perspectives.

Other people have described 168 as "the deepest division in boxing".

I don't think so. Yeah, you can make some great fights but when Librado Andrade and Andre Dirrell are jockeying for top five slots, I'm not so sure. Both Jermain Taylor and Arthur Abraham had done almost nothing in the division prior to last night - one was banished from middleweight. Two other contestants are prospects. And then the champions. What's so deep?

                140 is the deepest division.

I like Showtime's SuperSix tourney. But let's face it: it's a marketing technique to garner interest for a bunch of middling fighters.

                  Compare this SuperSix:

                  Arthur Abraham
                  Carl Froch
                  Mikkel Kessler
                  Andre Dirrell
                  Jermain Taylor
                  Andre Ward

                  To THIS SuperSix:

                  Roy Jones, Jr
                  James Toney
                  Bernard Hopkins
                  Joe Calzaghe
                  Iran Barkley
                  Michael Nunn

Arthur Abraham and Mikkel Kessler are the favourites. If those guys each fought the six in the second list, they might go 3-9 or 4-8.

But I realize that we are fighting in THIS era. And I'm glad Showtime was able to put this together.

...I just have to keep things in perspective.

Yeah, I know JT is 2-0 vs Hopkins. But the S6 features a vastly diminished Jermain.
Boxing needs to have this tournament at the WW level. I doubt FMJr will participate... LMAO...

What would be in it for him?

More activity than he cares to have.
Less control than he likes to have.
Greater risks than he likes to take.
Less money than he likes to make.

...all to be in the position he is in right now.
