    Benavidez-Callum Didn’t Happen Sooner At 168

Any Benavidez fans able to confirm why? Oracle01

Benavidez was ordered to fight Callum. Benavidez team asked if they could take a voluntarily defense. Then dropped the belt at the voluntarily defense.

My guess? Side of the street politics. PBC was not working with MR at the time.

      Callum will use his bike

While I think he looked good vs. Buatsi, I'm not sure about his mobility. I think he'll be better served standing his ground with his jab and catch-counters. Force Benavidez to move him back, instead of constantly surrendering ground. Benavidez is not Beterbiev.

Buatsi was a good show of heart in which he looked vulnerable

euro level Buatsi nearly folded Callum with a body shot

Mexican David favorite punch hook downstairs should be able to stop Callum

Has Mexican David shown effective back foot boxing?

I know he has a good spear jab and can box here and there for a couple of rounds

Mexican David has a good jab whenever he uses it

problem is he doesn’t throw many jabs

it’s all hooks and getting into range with a step in right hand

I don't think David wants to get into a jab battle with Smith. David's power and output hasn't been the same at LHW. Buatsi threw more punches vs. Smith than David did vs. Gvozdyk/Morrell. David's best bet is to impose his youth on Smith and counter him to the body. Smith fatigued vs. Buatsi, but so did David vs. Gvozdyk/Morrell. The only reason I'm going with David is his youth. If Buddy McGirt can get Callum in peak physical condition, it's should be a great fight.

maybe so great that it warrants an immediate rematch thus further delaying Bivol-Benavidez

Mexican David is an odd one he has the characteristics of a swarmer without their unlimited stamina to throw endless punches

he gets a long jab like an outfighter instead

in an interview months before facing Gvozdyk, David mentioned walking around at 225 when he fought at 168

I suspect these massive weight cuts is the reason why David is a fader

it must be catching up to him because his father has already talked about fighting Zurdo the cruiser

David would be a feather fisted aggressive fighter at cruiser

Callum wasn’t going throw away that Canelo payday be getting his a&$ kicked by Benevidez.

Benavidez did himself no favors by losing his title shot on the scale vs. Roamer Angulo. Regardless of Canelo's involvement, I still don't think David B./Smith was a possible match-up: Benavidez was not involved in the WBSS tournament where they may have fought, and PBC/MR were not working together at the time.

What you posted is literary fiction. Benavidez was never ordered to face him. Callum Smith could not even keep John Ryder off him, what you think Benavidez does?
