Comments Thread For: Nonito Donaire questions Naoya Inoue?s limits against ?bigger guys? at 126lbs

Donaire isn't wrong and he's familiar with moving up in weight and what that brought. Pretty sure when he fought the Axeman and got flattened, it forced him back to move down. He realized 126lbs at that moment was too much for him.
I would expect Inoue to naturally move up as he ages and the body doesn't let the weight off as easily. Though naturally, it will bring everything Donaire spoke about to light. Guys will hit harder and have a better punch resistance towards Inoue whose monster punch was more devastating at the lighter weight.
Not saying he can't be competitive though. He can add a few more dimensions to his game and why not be competitive? Perhaps a bit more defense. He gets carried away with his offense and leaves himself completely exposed. Depending who he faces, if they're not afraid to trade in those moments, they'll be able to catch him clean.brankobugarski likes this.

Just like a cruiser getting dropped by cruisers, the ??? multiply if he is in the heavyweight division! IMO, he is at his limit at 122 for his chin being good. 126 lbs and beyond I say its suspect.

based on what? like i said it's not like he's been getting KO'd in the lower weights.
he wont go past 126, but that's not because he cant take the punches, he doesnt have the body frame to go beyond 126.billeau2

You're done.
I will always love the moment you destroyed Darchinyan. You've made your mark.
Move on now.
Most people (other than Elpacman) seem to be forgetting that Nonito is perfectly qualified to make a comment and a recommendation on this topic. He started at flyweight 112 lbs and was hugely successful climbing through divisions until he met Rigondeaux at 122 and Walters at 126 that he came undone. Then he went back down in weight to fight the guys his own size. He knows what it is like to keep fighting bigger and bigger guys until you reach your limit and come undone.Last edited by brankobugarski; 05-06-2025, 02:21 PM.Left Hook Louie likes this.
