It didn't die completely, but lets be honest, after Canelo retires what boxer has the star power to draw crowds? I dont even like Canelo, but when Mayweather retired, everyone knew Canelo was taking that spot. Who is that fighter right now?

Canelo is a manufactured attraction. List all of Canelo's exciting fights , and when was the last one. He usually puts everyone to sleep and always apart from a few fights a long time ago.

Someone else will come along maybe multiple fighters will share the limelight. Canelo retiring may not be a bad thing for the sport. Perhaps fighters will feel more compelled to fight each other in high stakes fights rather than protecting their records to chase a big payday with the ginger one.

His few fights a long time ago is what made an attraction. I agree, his last few fights haven't been great, but again, who can draw crowds after Canelo is gone?

Benavidez ticks all the boxes, he just needs willing opponents.

Bad fight nights happen. Let's be honest, during the "Mike Tyson era "there are 0 fights that have repeat value except for him losing to journeyman Buster. Nash out - His Majesty

I can't deny, I'm EMBARRASSED. I told my MMA fan co-worker to tune in this week for a trifecta of boxing perfection. I'm like, yo, we got big names going at it. Canelo, Garcia, Lopez, Haney, Inoue. Okay, aside from Inoue whose yet to perform and hopefully save this disaster, it's just that, a f**kin disaster. I pray my MMA buddy had something better to do and missed it like he usually does after I tell him to watch cause this would be something he would tell me, "yo, this was the most boring **** I've seen and why I watch MMA."

Yeah, I'm mostly over it. What you realize here are that boxings manufactured "stars" are just that. They ain't legit like the stars in the past that had to earn that status through trials and tribulations. Now, you just need the social media hype and regardless if you're actually good, you're an immediate star in boxing.

Let's say there are levels to boxing. You got your straight up social media celebrities participating in celebrity boxing. We say, oh yeah, they're trashed compared to high level boxing. Though high level boxing has now become social media stars at JUST a higher level than the celebrity boxers. I think any fighters of the last 2 decades would annihilate any of the current crop. They're all just trash these days.
