Basketball is just a well packaged kid's game that didn't go international until the mid 1980's. Brilliantly marketed, like all of the big team sports are.
Boxing, conversely, went international in the early 1700's, has a strong tie-in with the ancient civilizations; and is far more than a game......


And THAT just compares the sporting part of what Muhammad Ali gave the world with his simple message to the common man.

Ali's peers are not simply sportsmen and entertainers.
