yall say anything
it’s probably a 50 /50 fight but the higher weight n experience at them weights should give canelo slight advantages

He is not. He is 38 old semi-retired welterweight with one fight at 154 and he didn`t look great . His age, inactivity and the lack of experience in higher divisions fighting will be the key.
Canelo is younger, more active and much more experience in higher divisions.
I am rooting for Bud but I genuinely believe the slew of optimists thinking Bud will win are still starstruck over the Spence fight. That performance was the kind he should’ve parlayed into a couple more by taking out Jermell [Charlo] and a less defensive-minded fighter than Madrimov. The beatdown he gave Spence was on the level of Pacquiao-De La Hoya and Mayweather-Gatti. And for better or worse, it made people believe that Crawford can pull off that type of performance AT WILL. He can’t. He might outbox Canelo in some spots maybe but Crawford’s aura is right now more intimidating than the fighter himself.
And before anyone says Canelo is older and still hittable (and point to the Mayweather fight of him getting bewildered), a few notes to really highlight and consider:
-Mayweather was supremely defensive. Crawford is much more hittable.
-Mayweather was not 38 and inactive at the time. Crawford has been a “once-a-year” fighter for the last 5 years. Mayweather’s longest stretch of fighting once per year was from 2009 to 2012. After that, he signed with Showtime and fought six times in three years (2013-2015).
-When Mayweather fought Canelo, there was a catch weight in Floyd’s favor. Crawford is giving the full advantage to Canelo and going up TWO WEIGHT CLASSES. At the very least Mayweather was somewhat experienced at 154. This jump up in weight is something like what Pacquiao did in 2008 against De La Hoya, but De La Hoya was making 147 after nearly a decade of fighting above that.
I hope Crawford can pull it off but I think this is a tall order. If Crawford’s been in close fights with the likes of Shawn Porter, stunned by Kavaliuskas (all fights at below super middleweight), I think it’s gonna’ take A LOT of loosening up for Crawford to get into the flow and be willing to engage assertively against a naturally bigger guy in Canelo.
All credit to him if he can pull it off, though.
EDIT: If Crawford loses, I just hope he doesn’t turn in a Jermell Charlo type performance. Jermell is going to look like a straight up b**** if Crawford beats Canelo. “We lions!” My ass…talking all that ish and then playing four corners. I’m very difficult to get buyer’s remorse for a PPV, but I felt Jermell mugged me that night. What a punk…Last edited by TintaBoricua; 05-04-2025, 09:10 AM.

This will be the biggest test for Canelo...
and he does have trouble with skilled boxers.
Tough to pick, but I'd say Bud should get the UD.

Canelo had to be somewhat taken back a bit by Crawford size inside the ring during the face off. That isn't a welterweight any longer...

All this talk about Canelo slipping, Bud didn't look that great his last fight, he finally got a big payday, and he wasn't as hungry as he was pre spence. Also, in that fight, he was getting touched, the additional weight didn't do him any favors, his heavy hands and thudding power was not there, and this is 2 weight classes up the scale. Bud's camp knows this, which is why he didn't take the risk of a 168 tuneup, he waited damm near a year to fight again to protect his payday, that's not a good sign in my book, and it will hurt him being this inactive.boxingfan91
