The man wants to provide for his kids, and boxing is the best way he knows to pay the bills. I get it. Maybe a "comeback" works out for him, but if I was him, I'd hedge my bets and star being extremely smart with my fight money, understanding that each fight might be the last chance to make a decent purse (whatever he's getting paid for it). If the comeback doesn't work, you don't want to be the guy that younger guys beat up for cheap, to add a name on their record.
