For all those haters and casuals who denigrated Normand for passing on Hearn's 1.7 mil offer to fight Boots, and who also do not understand how the boxing world works or how managers are there to get the most money for their boxers (and themselves), start the atonement process by calculating how much money Normand jr will make in his next few fights... https://sugarbertboxing.com/hearns-g...counted-offer/

The article doesn't mention Norman's purse for facing Sasaki. Also, it isn't wise to count purses from fights that haven't materialized yet. If Norman loses to Sasaki, the Ennis fight is gone. This only makes sense if his purse for Sasaki is greater than what MR offered to face Ennis.

You and the poster of that article are dilousinal if you think Ennis is going to wait around for Norman Jr. at WW.
He already said after his last fight that the weight cut was difficult this last time out so I doubt he has much time left at 147.
Per that article and poster, Matchroom will "have to offer Norman $3 million eventually to face boots".
Most likely scenario is Boots will move up, scattering his belts. Norman Jr. will be carefully protected and avoid any real threat at WW and go back to fighting for random fighters for $200k-$300k purses until a mandatory beats him and he fades into irrevelancy!
$3 million!! Get TF outta here with that!
Even Bivol was only guranteed $2 million when he faced and beat the Face of Boxing, Canelo!
NOBODY outside of hardcore boxing fans know who either Ennis, let alone Norman Jr. are!
What are the odds that Andy Hiraoka and Jin Sasaki will win the Championship belts against Gary Russell and Brian Norman at their respective divisions? (140-147)
Because a rematch between the two if noth did pull it off will be pretty big in Japan I believe.

It's simply bad PR for Norman, so he turns down the (1.7m) Boots offer, only to fight for a reported 150k on Mayer's undercard. Next, he's to fly out to Japan for his next fight - which is unlikely to help him build a fan base in his country / home town (but maybe, somehow, his handlers/manager will see this a good thing).
Meanwhile, Boots now has 2 belts and has increased his profile by beating Stanionis and it makes zero sense for team Norman to financially benefit from the work Boots is doing to build his profile.
For people who follow boxing, it looks a certain way when fighters turn down career high money - it looks like:
the fighter or team aren't confident of winning
or they don't really want the the fight and are pricing themselves out
or, they're trying to sell their belt to the highest bidder
But I'm not naive, negotiation is about what you can get, not necessarily what you deserve. But let's hope team Norman don't repeat the Adam Kownacki story...

We can talk about it until cows come home but when you reject $1.7M only to accept $150K for your next fight, the message is simple, loud and clear. It is not confusing at all. Brian Norman Jnr and his handlers do not believe he can win the fight against Boots and want retirement money for that fight. Everything else is noise and a PR spin.

It wouldn't be retirement. Just some cash for the time off and the L....
