"Stevenson’s co-managers James Prince and Josh Dubin were empowered to negotiate with DiBella because Hearn and Matchroom didn’t exercise their option for the second fight on the agreement with Stevenson."

This is the detail that many seem to be ignoring. A portion of the boxing audience/media is framing this situation as "Shakur fires Matchroom" when the reality may be the opposite. Hearn may have come to the conclusion that Shakur is a risky investment.

Wait a minute! Did Eddie not try to negotiate the fight with GBP or Turki?

I truly don't know because I'm just an observer like you, but it's clear that Turki's involvement in boxing has complicated everything. For example, Stevenson/Padley was on a Riyadh Season card...but it seems to have counted as a fight towards his Matchroom contract.

Yes, that is why I'm surprised that Shakur can avoid paying MR their fee. I was sure that Eddie put this deal together like he did the the Padley fight... I'd sure like to hear from Eddie!

Given Hearn's media accessibility, it's almost a guarantee that someone will ask him about it.

Honestly, I think this could benefit both parties in the long run.

Shakur should stay right at 135 and wait Tank out. Tank will eventually emerge from his hole.
