Comments Thread For: Oscar De La Hoya: Devin Haney has the look of a ?shot? fighter

I'm sorry but Devin Haney has been exposed. All you have to do is listen to him speak. He stutters and his voice is shaky. Someone once said that he always sounds this way. If that's the case, Haney has been showing signs of being punch drunk for a minute.
If you look at Haney's boxing history, outside of his last seven bouts, his resume is hugely padded. His last real knockouts came against bums.
Haney's power is overstated and his chin is beyond questionable. Whether a cheat or not, Ryan Garcia exposed a lot about Haney.
And while Ramirez's best days are past him, he poses a threat to Haney.
This next fight will tell us everything that we need to know about Haney.BlackRobb likes this.

I think Jose Ramirez is not at his best considering he overstayed his welcome at 140 like Prograis and Taylor.
Moving up might help him his gas tank, but his punch resistance and reflexes are likely susceptible to getting him hurt by Haney's jab.
Haney looks leaner and more athletic than usual, he will be fighting without his notable size advantage when moving up so I think that's interesting. Might affect his clinch work and durability negatively, but he might punch harder, and overall be sharper.
Interesting fight where it might explain the standing of both fighters, but honestly think moving to 147 is a move that would had benefitted years ago.Last edited by Malvado; 04-02-2025, 10:44 PM.

haney was always trash
he was a weight bully aka massive weight cuts and hes feather fisted. now that he above 140 he cant hang with those guys all those guys got way more power than him and he cant just hug them to death
haney's defense is non existent, all he does is pop shot and hug people, now that the guys are near his size they can push him off and he cant hug on forever. Ryan came in 143 which ruined their whole strategy of hug and hold all night.Last edited by elfag; 04-02-2025, 11:25 PM.Corelone likes this.

He is also pretty consistent/committed to follow through a gameplan, even if he gets caught and is vulnerable with something big like he did with Maidaina's brother and Abel Ramos. Ramirez and Haney don't have the power or output to hurt him from it is seen, they might outskill him but eventually they likely get caught quickly by something from Barrios that turns the tides.Last edited by Malvado; 04-03-2025, 12:15 AM.BlackRobb likes this.
