Comments Thread For: Has Xander Zayas already laid claim to be Sebastian Fundora's next foe?

Even as Sebastian Fundora celebrated the first defenses of his junior middleweight belts, the gears were in motion for Xander Zayas to become his official mandatory.

What do you mean by "2 years nothing...."?

His fight with Tszyu was less than a year ago, and thats when he won the belts.

Don't the belts have Mandotories? Its the sanctioning bodies responsibility to make fights. Fighters will do what is more financial beneficial to them.

"Even Fundora’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, who is as shrewd a negotiator as boxing knows" Lance Pugmire, Sampson's buddy always cheering him on.....

Regardless of promotional ties they have to enforce the mandos, too many boxers wait or fight eliminator after eliminator because of boxing politics. The 154 division is deep so we should not see another title holder fight a boxer of yesterday's caliber.

Xander Zayas is the mando. And it’s not a bad fight at all, it will do good numbers if they hold it in New York City. Probably sell out the Garden.

They dont wait or fight endless eliminators due to politics, its mainly due to waiting for a weak champ or vacant belt. I dont believe Zayas' team or promoters want his first title fight to be against a 6'6 freak of nature. He hasnt looked great against the B and C level comp hes faced so far.

I like xayas ALOT actually. But the thing is fundora sat out a year waiting for spence (which is a terrible fight no one cares to see), now trying to fight unproven xayas who’s 21 years old then gonna try to fight Errol Spence again. Ducking EVERYONE else. After winning the belts on a gifted opportunity. It’s pathetic. I used to be a big fundora fan but I sincerely hope he gets mendozad again

I will give you an example. Arnold Barboza has been the Mando for a while, eliminator after eliminator he finally gets a shot.
