When elites fight, it often goes distance

People complain about Bivol going distance with Beterbiev twice, but that is often the case when top guys fight.

Barrera - Morales wars, Hagler fighting Sugar Leonard, Pac fighting Floyd, Hagler fighting Duran..

This era is not much different: Canelo - GGG 3x, Canelo -Bivol, Bivol - Beterbiev 2x..

You will likely not see a KO in elite fights unless in heavyweight division.

Because damn near all elites have at minimum a good defense AND a good chin to go with it

elites will make each other work to land a flush shot

I remember casuals saying Artur stops Bivol due to his 100% ko some even went as far as saying he’s a better knockout puncher than Sugar Robinson ROFL

Agreed for the most part but you STILL get the occasional Hagler-Hearns, Spence-Crawford etc.

You have to be good at everything to have elite. You need speed, power, durable chin, heart, skill, defense so it makes sense. We get stoppages often when an elite fighter fights someone who is finding out that they are not elite.

or a big difference in levels without a stylistic edge in favor of the lesser fighter

Ricky was good approaching very good

he got ko’d by both upper echelon greats Floyd and emmanuel

We also can't overlook the fact that Canelo fought GGG when he was old, Bivol fought Beterbiev when he was old too. If they'd faced them at their peak, it MIGHT'VE been a different story.

joe smith jr overhand was the only guy to make Bivol legs shaky

Bivol immediately followed it up with a clinch

And Bivol is a dirty boxer

I believe he’d always find a way to go the decision

it’d take a perfectly timed shot from someone with legit one punch ko power to stop him
