Why, because they might ask him to fight someone good for once?

Dude may only have had one fight where there was even the slightest bit of doubt as to whether he'd win (Ryan Garcia), but he's still a feared (that's right!) champ who has never been caught cheating & as such he is a perfectly qualified candidate to speak on what he sees as the undermining of whatever integrity remained in the sport before Alalshikh rocked up.

PBC been on the brink of collapse for some time now according to several reports. Tank might be kissing that Saudi ring with some gusto soon, unless he really does retire within a couple fights like he mentioned. I do wonder now if PBC's very survival is heavily dependent on their fighters getting good PPV numbers. So if this PPV flops, that might be the final nail in the coffin - if the situation is as critical as some people say.

Is it a practice in the US "to kiss someone's ring", or whatever needs to be kissed when making a deal?

It's simple. Regular Davis wants Saudi money, but he doesn't want Saudi matchmaking.

Lance, did you have to kiss Garry Jonas's ring (BoxinScene owner) to get this "job"?
Or was it something else that you had to kiss?

Absolutely. Staying undefeated without controversy speaks volumes about his skill and credibility. His perspective on the sport’s integrity is definitely worth considering.

Last weekends DAZN card was insane. My back was hurt but my brain enjoyed the entire card. Boxing has been great lately and hope this continues.
