Absolutely everyone in the comments are sleeping on Martin Bakole. I'm calling it now. He's going to knock out Joseph Parker. That dude reminds me of a young George Foreman. He's quite the beast. He'll do to Parker what he did to Jared Anderson. He's wanted this stage for awhile now and I think he's going to capitalize. Mark my words.

Young George? that's a stretch, old pudgy George maybe but in no way is he like a young George.

Let's not forget he's upwards of 300 pound at moment and was relatively easily out boxed by Hunter who is no great shakes.

And that was 50+ pounds ago as well and that's against a crusierweight not a full fledged heavyweight with great hand speed and decent footwork arguably better than Hunters certainly his hand speed.

Admittedly it was 7 years ago but still the ease at which Hunter dealt with him is a cause for concern, surely even you with your delusional comparison, you can recognize that.

Parker has to have some of the biggest nuts in the business, he's taking what is essentially all risk, no reward fight.

Against what could be argued the highest risk late replacement opponent particularly on 2 days notice.

The same opponent most people won't even mention let alone be in a position to look him in the eye across the ring.

Yes, parker is facing a short notice replacement opponent but big props to bakoles "balls"? He's taking a big fight without any preparation, jumping on a flight and fighting almost immediately.

Parker's game plan probably won't be much different than he was likely to run with for Dubious; box, move, clinch

I don't know about you but it's been frustrating that Bakole hasn't fought since then. He didn't get beat up or hurt such that he needed a long recovery time.
He shoulda been active ASAP after Anderson.
Shame on the promoters for not keeping the fans engaged with more Bakole fights.
If DuBois can't fight, this almost makes up for it.

The fact is, Bakole is pretty unproven at the top level. Now he gets a chance to cement the ranking he's got and earn good money in the process. It's a really good opportunity for Bakole to get.

I'm not quite so sure what it does for Parker, who is overdue a real opportunity. It would be a credible win, but he's already got credibility at the level. And a loss drops him down the reckoning.

OK, that makes sense. But it also means those promoters wouldn't or couldn't find a credible opponent for him. For shame.

Yeah, Parker in a bit of a jam, but he's making the best of a tough situation. He scores points with the fans by keeping the card as good as can be under the circumstances, honoring the contract, and keeping himself busy and seen on the biggest stage. Even if he loses to Bakole he shouldn't fall too far in the rankings if Bakole is as good as many suspect, right? No shame in that. A loss really depends on context, IMO.

Bakole has slow feet but fast hands with very good timing and accuracy and punch variety. If he even has decent conditioning he should stop Parker. Even Joyce managed to corner Parker and break him down.

Bakole is a great replacement opponent. Much better than that Eurobum they’re feeding to Shakur Stevenson.

The only thing is that 48 hours is very short notice. I doubt very much that Bakole’s conditioning will be up to par.
