Damn my memory, tell me they don't starve themselves knowing they have 24 hours to pig out. Ortiz nearly died "making" weight.

IDK man, I love Vergil , dude is a warrior but will his body allow it. Ever since all the complications, I haven't been convinced that he fully trusts his body to perform to the max, and he's been wobbled and dropped multiple times since.

The defensive leaks became apparent in the Hooker fight and he hasn't been able to seal those up. I had full confidence in him as younger prospect but it's been stop-start, then bumpy. It's only just now starting to feel positive again only because he has gotten a few fights under his belt.. Big fight for him

Off course they dry out and starve down because its a great advantage when they do it right in a pound for pound fight, they figured this out with Roosters and Pit Dogs a 100 yrs ago and men just followed what they were seeing with their fighting dogs, its not food you dont build muscle or fat in 24 hrs its all about fluid, where it hurts them is training to make weight which limits their training and if you ignore your weight in training you cant make it at the last minute because your muscle mass is more holding more fluids, its a double edged sword , boxing is very much handcuffed to old traditions that are just prehistoric by nature, when you have a process that they all do some will always go to an extreme thats just human nature, the thing is its hard to know their limit as they basically assume they can make a weight then mess it up when they have to do it and making weight in one camp doesnt mean you make it in the next camp because they are pushing limits and your body is always in constant change, Oscar vs Manny was a prime example of that.

I think Manny and Floyd shows the advantage of fighting close to your walk around weight which is by far the healthiest way to do it it would be good if they all adopted that approach.

Yep, the face-offs at the weigh-in shows are fascinating if for this reason alone - how shrunken and dried out they often appear. Then they break the stare-down and go immediately to the Gatorade bottle the handler is holding from 5 feet away.
