As talented and entertaining as Gervonta Davis is, it is quite disappointing that at 30 years old is still maneuvering his career that way he is. Despite that he keeps himself in shape most of the time now, he doesn't have to have more than 1-2 fights a year if it's against quality opposition.

If it was to catapult him at the start of his career to stardom or his retirement run after a good run it be understandable.

That’s a weak argument. Gervonta Davis is still one of the most dangerous and skilled fighters in the sport, and his career moves have clearly paid off. Not every fighter needs to follow the same formula, and as long as he keeps winning and selling out arenas, claiming he’s doing it wrong is just nonsense. He’s in his prime, and quality fights matter more than pointless activity.
