Canelo no KO since Plant in 2021.. Did wrist injury and surgery ruin his punching power?

Canelo said he first felt the pain in his wrist after the Caleb Plant fight in 2021. He stopped Plant by knockout in the 11th round that night. But that's the last KO he got in the 4 years since then, after 6 more fights. Initially Canelo ignored the pain but by 2022 it had got too excruciating that he had to have surgery to repair torn cartilage.

So did that surgery on his left wrist noticeably diminish Canelo's punching power? Guys he may have at one time knocked out are now able to survive for 12 rounds. Munguia was dropped by Canelo, but not stopped. He went the full 12 with Canelo, while a couple fights later he was KO'd by Bruno Surace, a guy with a 19% KO ratio, not a recognized power puncher.

Could Canelo's punching power be a thing of the past?

Benny couldn't stop Plant and Plant out on his feet for the last half of the fight.

      - - Canelo prefers to be a counter punching boxer, not slugger, thus his formidable career defines him.

He's never been a massive puncher, he has never knocked out high level comp. He is accurate and he has always fought in spurts. He lulls guys into falling asleep a bit and then he attacks fast.

As he has gotten older he gasses out so he still does this, but he can't sustain it as well and he gasses out. Canelo was a very good fighter with an all timer chin who chose his opponents well.

Plant also fought Canelo scared as hell. Canelo just timed him. Plant took a much worse beating against Benavidez and it really should have been stopped, or Plant DQd for excessive holding. Plant is tough but he is a level below really good. Alot of flash versus real skill.

I disagree about Plant. He's got very good skill. His biggest issue IMO is that he doesn't have power to match. He's not exactly featherfisted, but if he had more power, he's got the skills to be a tough out for anyone. But since he doesn't have quite enough pop to keep the likes of Canelo or Benavidez off him, he gets devalued. But only losing to the likes of those two isn't exactly a major critique of his skill. Not like he's losing to the Bruno Surace's of the world...

Part of Plant's failure, probably the biggest part, is his lack of power. He is obviously a good boxer, but he isn't as good as billed. JMO.
