So much for the train of thought that Saudi money would entice Alvarez to face a meaningful opponent.

A unification as the first of a 4-fight deal isn’t bad. Especially with Crawford coming next.

The only bad thing is his next fight in September is going to be a waste of time mismatch vs a welterweight who had one fight at super welterweight and fights once per year. But the "fans" have hyped up that mismatch so it will now happen
No. Only Canelo haters or anti Mexicans blabber nonsense like you. Canelo is a small 168lber who moved from 147,154,160,168,175 and had the balls to do it. Crawford is a bigh 147lber always being a weight bully. Actually Crawfor is taller and has more reach. Backs are more muscular, right??

I have to then think May 2026 will be Charlo and finish with Surace.
Itīs a money grab by his oponent. Scull is the champion. Did Canelo made him champion'?? No. Only Canelo haters want thim to fight Benavidez who is much bigger and has very little fights so less tear and wear (Mexicans dont care anyway, whoever wins is still Mexican). There is nothing else left to prove for Canelo.

Why do you think Canelo or Crawford need belts at this stage of their careers? They are basically meaningless for them. They are above the need for belts.

Those were not tune ups. Those were cherry picked contenders.

Fighters remain active as it keeps them conditioned to be/stay in fighting shape.

Canelo is not going to pass up Cinco De Mayo. That's a money date weekend for him. But he's going to most likely face Crawford in September. Therefore, it's wise to take an easy, stay conditioned fight against a non power punching opponent.

Jake Paul is a better boxer than William Scull.
