I don’t know what the alternative is supposed to be for Shields. She has basically cleared out every division she could make weight in, is the only American boxing gold medalist for the past 20 years and is bringing relatively big cards to Flint, Michigan, which hadn’t been a hot market before.



Perkins did only have five pro fights heading in, but she had the experience of being a Team USA national team member as an amateur. If there were someone else Shields should have fought that night, I’d love to hear an argument. Shields is unfortunate to not have a wealth of exciting options to fight, at least not until a time machine gets invented to bring back prime Laila Ali, Ann Wolfe or Lucia Rijker.

All these dudes are just haters. Simple.

These are the same dudes who cry about tr@nnies in womens' sports, but then spend all of their time bashing womens' sports, like they don't have sisters & daughters.

They decades behind the men because women weren't even allowed to compete in a lot of sports, of course they're going to be behind, duh.

Just be supportive & help them get to a point they can compete or shut the hell up about it.

rYan ********. What's she supposed to do? Keep her historic achievements where they belong: in women's boxing. All these articles and claims that she's exceeded the accomplishments of the male undisputed champions like Usyk, Crawford, and Inoue, without even a mention that before she entered the division 3 of the titles were vacant and that there's not even 30 boxers competing in the division is disingenuous in the extreme.

It's great that there's ANY, and I hope women's boxing will someday be able to be mentioned in the same breath as men's boxing, but as it stands, they're not effectively even the same sport. Even just the times: 10 2 min rounds vs 12 3 min rounds is a massive difference. 20 mins of work vs 36, not to mention the greatly decreased likelihood of stoppages. And there's more than 5000 active boxers who aren't suspended currently across men's welterweight and junior welterweight (the divisions in which Terence Crawford won his undisputed championships). There's fewer than 250 women's boxers across every division in which Shields has competed. There's more competition in any one of the divisions in which her lighter female compatriots compete, and when you bring men into the equation, we're talking orders of magnitude.

It's, frankly, disrespectful to even make the comparison between Shields and the men. Honestly it's a bit disrespectful to make the comparison between getting undisputed at heavyweight and at lightweight for women based on the level of competition. Her achievements can stand on their own for what they are. If not, maybe they're not that impressive.

I rate Benavidez very highly, but its rather crazy to put Naoya and Benavidez in P4P Monster sense anywhere close... Whatever... I would say Beterbiev is far more of a monster, and if he hasn't aged going into the Bivol match he will prove it.

I would love a Morrell with a few more fights in running it back with Benavidez, would probably be even closer as he gets some more experience.
