Morrell better box very precisely. Those holes they see outside the ring, look different inside the ring. That's why a master boxer like Caleb couldn't do what you think he should have done. It's professional experience at the championship level. He's got all the tools for the upset, and I'm picking him to pull it off. BUT, if he doesn't, I'm pretty confident it will be because he didn't stick to the gameplan and allows Benavidez to turn it into a firefight and gets drawn into unnecessary 50-50 exchanges. That's Benavidez' fight. Morrell should be working on the outside and driving Benavidez back onto the back foot when Benavidez tries to rest, setting lateral traps to take advantage of Benavidez' bad footwork, and countering in combination when Benavidez overreaches or resorts to his static high guard. He's got the speed, power, feet, and skills to keep Benavidez guessing all night, and probably drop him to boot. But if they start slugging it out, that makes it easier for Benavidez to get into it and take over. He has let his ego get into things before and gotten hit with unnecessary shots that he didn't need to get hit by, and IMO that comes down to maturity at the championship level.

Gotcha, that's not a bad analysis. Cubans tend to have massive egos so that tracks lol. Seriously speaking, I never thought of Morrell's slips from his game plan in fights but it's a big factor and not something Benavidez does. Paired with stamina, that gives Benavidez the edge, especially in the later rounds when focus tends to slip because of fatigue, they can go hand in hand.

That child is never going to grow a big enough pair to get in the ring at all, let alone with Plant. I always thought Sweet Hands was fun to watch, and I rated Benavidez much higher for having beaten him.
