If that's all he did, he would have been beaten long ago. He also uses his brain, and he's a seasoned professional. Having said that, Morrell can knock your brains out. He's no joke at all. This fight will be something worth seeing...

You guys spend more time excusing the king of duck than watching him fight.
The same way you assume something, then I assume Floyd is your Idol Mami.
Duck Pacman for years and used IVs to face him.
GGG got a gift vs Derevyanchenko.
How old was Canelo when Mayweather decided to fight him? 23 when Canelo was Green as hell NO Elite level expirience and had to drianed him.Last edited by boxingitis; 01-30-2025, 01:48 AM.

BUT, if he doesn't, I'm pretty confident it will be because he didn't stick to the gameplan and allows Benavidez to turn it into a firefight and gets drawn into unnecessary 50-50 exchanges. That's Benavidez' fight. Morrell should be working on the outside and driving Benavidez back onto the back foot when Benavidez tries to rest, setting lateral traps to take advantage of Benavidez' bad footwork, and countering in combination when Benavidez overreaches or resorts to his static high guard. He's got the speed, power, feet, and skills to keep Benavidez guessing all night, and probably drop him to boot. But if they start slugging it out, that makes it easier for Benavidez to get into it and take over. He has let his ego get into things before and gotten hit with unnecessary shots that he didn't need to get hit by, and IMO that comes down to maturity at the championship level.

On paper, this is arguably the best matchup in boxing.
I have Benevidez winning but would not be surprised if Morrell pulls it out.
Ronnie Shields is my favorite trainer in the sport today. Vernon's victory over Shane was one of the most shocking things I have seen in boxing.
