Now I am not so presumptuous as to say I speak for the whole British boxing public, but I think I speak for a lot of them when I say, NO we don't want Smith to fight the winner of the WBC junior-welterweight title fight between Alberto Puello and Sandor Martin on March 1. We want him to fight Adam Azim next.

Smith looks ferocious. Now is the time to throw him in for a world title. He could get better as he gets older but right now he has the mix of confidence and momentum that gives him a great chance against anyone

Not me. I think he's well past Azim now. Get the title and go in against Catterall maybe in a unification.

He did what he was supposed to do against that Frenchy Ouizza.
Who, by the way, offered nothing to gauge Smith by. Not Smith's fault.
I hope Smith is all that y'all say he is. 140 looking to get stacked again. Put him in against Teofimo and do to Teo what he did to the French stiff.
Then we can have a pint.

The only thing people are saying is that he's a good prospect/contender. No one is saying he's the king of the division or anything like that.

Goatintheboat I'm surprised that you are building castles in the air based on that win. I think hitmanjosh was a tiny bit harsh saying 'he beat a bum, so what' but I think he was closer to the truth than you are. I'd probably agree with Sid Knee & LHL, he did what he was supposed to do, against a very poor opponent, & that is that. There is no way you should look at that performance & say either that he is ready for a world title or that he is leagues above Adam Azim. To me, Smith v Azim is still the fight to make.

Brutally, everything a boxer could do wrong Ouizza did it. Stuff that, seriously, my dad told me when I was 9 & first had a punching bag! I mean, he was awful, he just didn't have any skills at all.

In my opinion Dalton's going to want another fight before taking on the Puello/Martin winner & as Ben Shallom's obviously going to keep Adam Azim away from him until he's either in his mid 30's & AA's in his prime he should take a defence of the European title against Jon Fernandez or Peirce O'leary.
