Comments Thread For: Maxi Hughes caught out by fake news in pursuit of big fights

When Maxi Hughes heard that Floyd Schofield was out of his fight with Shakur Stevenson, he had no hesitation offering his services. The problem was, Hughes had heard about Schofield's "withdrawal" via a fake account on social media.

The writer of this article did a heck of a job managing to write a full length article over such little content.

Maxi saw a post saying Schofield dropped out of Stevenson fight so Maxi offered to step in but the post was not factual and Schofield didn't drop out of the fight. The end.

Like you say a weak article but I love that Maxi Hughes was going to drop everything & head out to fight Shakur. 'You may think you're world class mate but I've had more rows in Doncaster than you've had hot suppers'!

Unfortunate cause imo this was one of the better sites
Now we get news a week old and recycled articles which seem to be the same one that are published on other sites

I am a big Maxi fan, he's a true fighter. Loved it when he was brought in as an opponent for Jono Carroll and boxed his ears off. That upset started a nice little run...he beat Straffon (who beat another one of my favorite fighters in James Tennyson).

The judges robbed him of a win against Kambosos which would have been huge.

Yeah, he shares the warrior mentality with Dave Allen, but Maxi is a decent boxer. Not elite level but his level is probably a lot higher than most people think. I remember when he fought Kid Galahad & even though KG was coming off a KO loss & stepping up in weight everyone assumed he was sure to win. Uh-huh
