    Vinny Paz - Providence Strong!
I used to like Paz because we were both from Providence.
Then he seemed to adopt the 'heel' persona and my affinity faded despite the Rhode Island roots.
But good for him, he did it his way and had a remarkable career nonetheless.

There is debate about what qualifies for a hall of fame entry, in terms of boxing achievement.

No one can argue though, that what he went though, to come back room from that accident, incredible and hall of fame worthy.

He always entertained, win or lose.

Great article. This site might’ve gotten worse in some ways, but, from what I’ve seen, the articles have gotten better. Vinny is a terrific interview subject. Really an inspirational guy. You know you’re satisfied with your life when you’re ready to check out at 62. God bless you and grant you better health, Paz — for however long you’re with us.

I actually came here for the put downs of Paz in the HOF, which I don't believe he deserves. But nope, nice article and nice comments.

I was about to denounce him being placed in the HOF until I read the article. I still don't think he belongs based on who he beat, but his story is certainly compelling. I remember the night Roy almost decapitated him. I watched that fight on HBO with my father.

Vinny didn't have anywhere near a hall of fame career. What was his claim to fame? His fights with Greg Haugen?
How the Hell does he gets into the Hall of Fame I'll never understand?

It's becoming too watered down now. Getting into the IBHOF back in the day used to mean something. Now it doesn't mean shit. Since they would allow anyone to get in.

He’s not a hall of famer…he had two controversial wins against a past his prime Duran other than that every big fight he was in he lost…if that’s the criteria there’s a long list of fighters who should be in before he even gets mentioned
