I like Usyk, but people are acting like he schooled a Prime Lewis and Klitschko...

Don't get me wrong, AJ and Fury are solid heavyweight champions.

But, AJ and Fury were not long standing dominant champions when Usyk beat them in competitive but clear points wins.

AJ it's very obvious never recovered from the Ruiz ko, he looked terrible against Pulev the fight prior to Usyk, and a couple of years after in his first real test he got PROPERLY schooled by Dubois.

As for Fury, it seemed clear to me that he was mentally checked out of the sport, retiring after the Whyte fight, only to carry on because he couldn't let the money and the limelight go. He looked poor against Chisora and AWFUL against the wrestler.

Wins over these two do not make Usyk the GOAT imo.

Even now people are saying Bakole or whoever would smash Fury and AJ to bits.

What I'm saying is Usyk didn't knock these guys off in the middle of impressive runs, it's more like he was the first real top level fighter to get to them.

Dubois would have smashed the AJ who fought usyk to bits, Fury may have been able to fiddle his way past other top heavyweights at the time he fought usyk but it's far from a given.

I like Usyk but calm down on the GOAT stuff.

He's not the GOAT, I haven't seen that claimed.

But it's fair to put him amongst the ATG's.

What he's did is impressive. He also win rematch, so he gave Josh and fury chance to study him and also shared 12 rounds and they couldn't figure game plan out still. He's not even been down yet too
He's not goat in most eyes but he can add depth to resume then who knows?

I’m not on the hype train for Usyk but his style is something new to heavyweights. Also his endurance is off the charts. Far beyond any other heavy weight. He’s redefined what being in shape means.

His endurance is good in this era, but who's he up against?

AJ is notorious for having bad stamina, Fury is a 270lb blubbersauraus who pretty much kept pace with Usyk although he got a bit tired at the end.

Outside that who have we had, Zhang? Cheeseburger Ruiz?

Usyks greatest attribute might be his discipline and fitness which yes, does put him above the other heavyweights of this era because their discipline and fitness suck.

I checked Usyk vs Joshua 1 because I believe that was the fight where Usyk showed the most activity and fitness, he threw 529 punches in that fight

I just picked a random Lennox Lewis fight that went 12 rounds, Holyfield 1. Lewis threw 613 punches in that fight.

                Holyfield vs Foreman 584 punches

Klitschko threw 509 punches vs david haye

Usyks work rate historically isn't anything special, it just seems that way against slow, low output plodders who average 25 punches a round who we have now.

He shines so bright because this HW era is an absolute shlthole.
Imagine a flubber like Fury being compared to ATGs
And Wilder being in the HOF
Are Bruno and Weaver in that bltch ?

                  And he has talent.
