Comments Thread For: Fabio Wardley is now the WBAs new No. 1 heavyweight contender
The unbeaten heavyweight leapfrogs several contenders to the top ranking, though it won't necessarily make him the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk.

Efe vs Bakole for the mandatory - exciting!
It just seems to me that Crawford are kind of keeping the strap hostage. He is fighting less than one time per year. That is tough.
Wardley against any of those would be a fun fight though. Bombs whilst it lasts.
True…it’ll be fun while it lasts but I suspect he’ll be stopped in the end like Zhang against Joyce (twice) or Kabayel against that Chechen monster and Sanchez.
Uncle Frank is a chess master. Sure his boy Fury lost his title. But Dubois holds the IBF. He's set up Wardley to challenge Pulev for regular belt, so he'll be upgraded to full champ if Usyk leaves the sport or division. Zhang could have the WBC Interim belt soon - again a possible automatic champ if Usyk retires. Moses Itauma is waiting in the wings. Okolie is in the mix as well. Queensbury could have dominant control of the heavyweight landscape very soon.
So basically the article says that Wardley is the number one contender, but it doesn't mean shlt because the WBA is going to do whatever they want and to hell with their own ratings. Got it. Thanks.
