Can't see what ppv success had to do with it - although I acknowledge the part business plays in pro-boxing I'm far more interested in getting the fights.
UC is more popular but that doesn't stop me enjoying boxing and doesn't affect the quality of the boxing as shown by the fights I mention above.
You don’t know what ppv success has to do with it? What better way to show the interest an event has created. As far as ducking or fights not being made. At 135 we’ve had Loma, teo, Haney, tank, and Garcia. The amount of matchups that should’ve been made out of that group far exceeds what actually happened. At 147 Crawford and Spence should’ve happened much sooner and Crawford should’ve been matched up with other PBC fighters like Danny Garcia and Thurman when it mattered. We never got boots and Ortiz vs each other or anyone relevant when they were at 147. At 154 we should’ve had a Crawford vs Charlo matchup all undisputed but is rad Charlo chased the check vs Canelo. Speaking of Canelo that Charlo fight only happened because he was ducking Benavidez. Not to mention he also didn’t fight the other Charlo or unify with Andrade when he was at 160. At heavyweight we never saw wilder vs Joshua or fury vs Joshua. That’s only some examples. Sure we’ve had some good matchups but nothing that has built up a true megastar which previous generations have had from Floyd to pac to Oscar to Tyson to Chavez to sugar ray etc etc

I think the 90s is easily the best decade.

How are we ranking the decades? Popularity? Boxing was never more popular than the 1920s and 1930s. Most HW title bouts? Best boxers?

The "best" decade in any definition should include either Ali or Mike Tyson.

I think the 2020s will hold up to any decade. Fury AJ, DDD, Usyk already have been champs and there are some good prospects coming up. Stay tuned.

            Not a bad list.

            I mostly agree with it.

I do think it's a little bit too early to put the 2020s that high.

I think the 90s are the best of my era. I started watching in the late 80s during the Tyson reign. The 70s were before my time but I bet any fight involving Ali was hyped around the world. Tyson was one of the most recognizable athletes in the world at the time. The depth in the 90s was extensive. You had guys in the top 20-25 who may have been able to slip in the top 10-15 today. There was big money in heavyweight fights back then especially if you were a draw. Andrew Golota could sell out MSG with 20000 Poles. That is why he got 4 title shots. Don King put on great HW cards back in the day.

This is so bad that I had to comeback for one last post.. account still not deleted by this place as requested?!

Since1976: 2020s at number 4 is pure insanity and just plain idiotic! Look at the top 10 rankings for 2020, 2021, 2023..

Wilder didn't know how to box and was proud of it!

Dillian Whyte, he has never even been close to being good.

Joe Joyce, like the guy, but he's beyond slow a and barely knows his craft.

                    Joseph Parker, just mediocre..

Andy Ruiz, wasted potential not taking his craft seriously

Luis Ortiz, a decade to late. Making due with his skills, but the body is/was shot.

Chisora, same as Dillian.. all these years and can barely box.

Frank Sanchez, wasted talent and now mediocre at best.

Agit Kabayel, average at best so considered good for this era.

Daniel Dubois, looking good now, but basically a joke until the AJ fight.

Martin Bakole, looking good now, but was a joke until smoking Anderson. Still slow and lacks conditioning.

Hrgovic, Kownacki, Taken, Ajagba, Pyle, Helenius, Wallin, Martin, Charr, Hammer, Povetkin, Miller and Szpilka ?!?!

That leaves AJ, Fury and Usyk. Said it many years ago, Usyk was going to be the last man standing vs, AJ and Fury. (Anderson was up there until he had those interviews with his emotional support dog or the one saying he won't box for long).

**Figured leaving the forum and focusing on articles was healthier, but they post this list and on a boxing site lol.

It's like the FIFA player of the century debacle. Credibility out the window.

Back to retirement from posting online!

                    Happy New Year!

This is actually a decent era....akin to the early 80s, obviously not skill wise but matchup wise.

The absolute worse was 04-14. Until guys like Jennings came along, HW was boring AF and you had to jump through hoops to watch it in the USA.
