Depends on the narrative you want to project. If you hate Ortiz no matter who he picks you're always going to arrive to a conclusion that he ducked this or that fighter. If he picked Zayas you will say he picked him because he's green, etc.

I don't see anyone saying that he ducked Zayas to fight the more decorated and experienced Israil. There is disappointment for Zayas not getting the fight but Virgil took a bigger risk and I bet you a much better payday for that fight.

Just to clarify, The guy who made this poll is an idiot with limited comprehension skills. This debate started because he was accusing boots of ducking Ortiz while shamelessly defending Canelo ducking Benavidez. I told him that his logic of stating that boots is ducking Ortiz because he isn’t jumping up a weight class to fight someone who isn’t champ and would rather unify in the division where he’s already champ, is the same type of logic of someone stating that Ortiz ducked Zayas because he made him an offer that was accepted, and then disappeared. He said it’s not a duck because Madrimov is tougher and I merely stated that is his opinion and not based on fact. We don’t know who actually would be the tougher matchup unless they fought and mentioned Zayas having an age, height, reach and speed advantage. And that promoted him to make this ridiculous thread.

Poll results from commenters on a boxing scene page don’t mean shyt and will never make it a fact. The only thing that does would be if they actually fight and we saw what happened. If you took a poll about who would be tougher for munguia , Canelo or Bruno Surace, everyone would say Canelo. But surace knocked munguia the fook out and Canelo won a lame uneventful decision. If you took a poll about who would be tougher for Crawford , Spence or madrimov, everyone would say Spence but who was the tougher fight? First you said it was just my opinion. Now that other people are sharing the same opinion you move the goalposts and say the opinion of BoxingScene commenters doesn’t matter.

If its Virgil in the other corner, then Madrimov seem like the tougher test on paper, I do like the Zayas fight too tho, mostly to see Xander getting real tested ,got high hopes on the kid.
