Boots and Ortiz were in the same weight class until Ortiz couldn’t make weight. Boots is champ at 147 and Ortiz is merely a contender at 154. Sure I’d love to see the fight but boots turning that down because he wants to unify in HIS division isn’t the same as Canelo refusing to fight the obvious # 1 opponent in his own division for years and then choosing to fight a prospect Berlanga, a mediocre munguia , a junior mw charlo, etc etc etc.
Boots claims he can’t get a big fight and that everyone is avoiding him.

Then along comes Turki and is throwing money at him to fight Vergil Ortiz and Ortiz even signs the contract…but Boots ducks. To fight who instead? Mario Barrios and Stanionis are with PBC. Brian Norman is with Top Rank and already priced himself out. Maybe we’ll get that Karen Chukhadzhian trilogy.

    Quack quack.

You cannot compare Canelo and Boots. I am not a Canelo lover but he has fought literally who is who in the zoo. Boots on the other hand hasn't fought anyone of note. Yes, it would seem that late in his career Canelo is ducking Benavidez but Boots is ducking so very early on even before he has fought a single champion for a belt.

still not a worse duck than what canelo is doing and I wouldn’t call this a “big fight” beyond hardcore fans. Nobody knows either of them, they’re not in the same weight class….One is an email champ and the other is a 0 time champ.

Yes Canelo has meaningful names on his resume, most of whom were between the ages of 35-40 when he fought them but now that he’s approaching his mid 30’s, he doesn’t see the need to do what those other guys did for his career and instead blatantly ran from the fight.
The demand for Canelo vs Benavidez , the money that can be made, the ppv buys that would be attached to it, the significance to the sport all greatly surpass an email champ moving up in weight to fight an unaccomplished contender.

Again, I’d love to see Boots vs Ortiz but I understand wanting to unify titles in your weight class instead of moving up to fight someone without a title whereas I don’t understand canelo turning down an opportunity to get a credible win against a proven threat that would also generate him more money and ppv buys than he’s made since the 2nd ggg fight 7 years ago. Even just from a competitive standpoint, Canelo is walking around with a title that Benavidez never lost in the ring. You’d think that he’d want to prove that he was really the best in his division. He’s the only undisputed champ where there’s a real dispute because he took a title that was never lost in the ring and the former champ was an undefeated top fighter who was still in his division. Apple and organge scenarios.

That is a lot of words to say you like Boots but do not like Canelo.

He said in the ring after his last fight that he prefers to unify at 147 before jumping up to 154. I think those young men with get it on before long. I'd like to see Boots vs Stanionis over anybody else at 147. That's his biggest challenge there.
Too many interviews with him and his Daddy saying they'd move up. Not to mention they attempted to make a fight with Conwell at 154. He refused to make a fight with ortiz at 147 with Oetiz saying "let's go". Email Ennis is content with fighting in a barren division while being an old prospect

A duck is a duck. Just call it out for what it is instead of trying to convince people that one is maybe a little bit better or a little bit worse.

It seems like it’s always Canelo haters who feel the need to do this.

I don’t like either. Just making the obvious point that both situations are not the same. If that goes over your head, I can’t make you see the truth.

No it’s Canelo lovers who always want to deflect and call other people duckers when he is the most blatant ducker in the sport right now. There are certainly levels to ducking and Canelo’s is the worst. Not sure how you think it’s the same when one is a champ at 147 and wants to unify and the other is a contender at 154. By your logic , Did Ortiz duck Zayas? Offer was made, accepted and the Ortiz disappeared.
