    Sometimes you remember the atmosphere surrounding a fight more than the fight itself. At the Park Central Hotel in Manhattan on April 23, 2002, the atmosphere was intense, to say the least.

    Boxers do get murdered often because they come from the mean streets. I remember Julian Letterlough. Although boxing can be brutal and exploitative, I always think it is absurd when middle class people campaign to ban boxing because bad things can happen. If you live where these guys live and live the life they live then bad things can happen any single day.

      Mr. Gerbasi, thank you for the best boxing article that I've read in a while. The trolls on these message boards drive me crazy calling fighters, "bums" and "cowards". On this Christmans Day, may God bless all the fighters who lay it on the line for our entertainment.
