Funny thing is, pre-Zhang Wilder would probably be a bigger problem for Usyk than Fury was

The only thing Wilder did was overachieve because Washington would’ve beaten him if he took the 8 count and listened to Pullman. Wilder never drew a dime which is why when Al took him under his wing everyone at PBC was stunned because Wilder was never popular. Everyone all over the internet overinflates Wilder’s popularity, when you look at the first Tyson Fury fight and even the second not a soul in LA, unless you were in the gyms, knew who Wilder was and that was in 2018.
But where does that belief come from? He kod 1 top 10(ring) opponent in his career. If he had jumped into the deep end right away instead of koing so many unranked unheralded guys no one would be touting him for his great power.
He seems to be getting extra credit for koing so many weak fighters but we know in general and in Wilders specific case that power is harder to transfer from the mid level to top level.
For example if you are a minor league baseball player who hits 50 home runs off minor league pitching, then you go to the big leagues and hit 15 home runs, you wouldn't be known as a power hitter. Yet a lot of people are judging Wilder on what are essentially his minor league numbers and not his top level numbers.Last edited by Mmann2e; 12-27-2024, 01:55 AM.Comment
