Usyk Did Not Dominate, But He Clearly Won

In typical Usyk fashion, he didn’t over power Fury, or ever have him hurt like he did in the first fight, he didn’t even completely outwork him in every round, but he did clearly look like the better, sharper puncher of the two. Landing the better shots in majority of the rounds.

In many ways this second fight was a lot less closer than the first fight even though first fight saw Fury getting knocked down and out on his feet.

Usyk should now seriously consider retirement. Undefeated, undisputed, and nothing left to prove. If he continues to fight he is going to lose to sooner or later, he’s not unbeatable and that’s why we love watching him fight. But at 38 by the time of his next match he is only going to slow down and it’s always a matter of time with aging boxers.

Usyk won, Fury wasn't willing to take the chances needed to win a fight like this. It's very hard to beat Usyk on points.

Fury had to risk getting stopped himself to have a real chance of winning, but he wasn't prepared to do that, he had to have one foot in the "safe" zone.

That's exactly what it looked like. Fury just couldn't put any sustained hurt on Usyk and he HAD to fight carefully. It looked like Usyk was trying to KO Fury and Fury was mostly trying not to get KO'd, he was just trying to survive and hope to win by way of robbery. Even his elbowing and hugging didn't help him.

I haven't watched the fight, so can't comment, but it sure sounds like there is no chance that usyk retires. I wish more fighters left while on top (see Roy Jones vs Ruiz)...but they almost never do.

Usyk is nearly heavyweight goat. Might as well aim for stars. He's got the big wins in bag. Just pick some names off for depth now

He should beat the winner of Parker vs DDB, become undisputed again, and sail off into the sunset.

Close within rounds can be pretty wide when scored.

People still don't seem to understand that you don't score on the vibe of the fight. You score round by round.

I thought Fury was a bit more aggressive.

But round by round, Usyk was winning rounds.

Same as the first fight where, because Fury was doing well by round 6, somehow the narrative became that Fury won the first half of the fight so he got credited with 6 rounds in the mind of every non-scoring watcher.

I look at Joshua and Fury's performances v Usyk. They were all close fights. But Usyk was just better and was a clear winner in all 4 fights, even if they were close within the rounds.

There was a moment near the end where Fury was winging big hooks and it looked like a war was going to break out. That would have been mega, but he left it too late and didn’t commit to it. He had the size and power advantage, he should’ve gone for it.

fury prepared hard. somehow his stamina was better despite weighing 20 pounds more.

it sucks we didnt really get to see a dominate winner, same with beterbiev-bivol but with two really great fighters meat for the undisputed it usually ends up underwhelming like that.
