Comments Thread For: David Morrell envisions taking David Benavidez to school

David Morrell believes he has a fine understanding of what hell confront February 1 when he fights fellow unbeaten light-heavyweight David Benavidez with an expected undisputed title shot going to the winner.

Respect to both on agreeing to fight. Contemporary fighters talk about fighting on social media more than they fight - it's exhausting for an older fan, such as myself.

Morrel I think is wrong about DB's defense. DB when he leans his back against the ropes is a bit hard to hit. I can't pinpoint who will win but it will be exciting to see because I think that later in the fight, one will take over.

Very rarely over 160lbs do you get a guy that can cut angles. I think its because when you have a 6ft+ guy in front of you with an equally long reach, its not as easy. Most bigger fighters rely on a good jab and range. Benevidez by UD or later stoppage.

If David wins he better fight the winner of Beterbiev and Bivol.

Yo all I know is Morrell has a lot talking to back up now, that boy better keep that same attitude come feb 1 ,cause Benny will surely try make him eat all his words with pure non stop pressure.

Imo, the winner of this bout will be the one who better adapts fully at 75 not just skill/power wise but punch resistance as well, Benny has been dropped at 168 ,cant remember if Morrell was too. Think he has not.

Lot high expectations with this one.

It's at least partly because the heavier you get, the more exhausting it is to have the footwork necessary for angles. Also because power scales up and you don't need the same skill level to be successful, and there's very few guys who have the humility to constantly keep refining their craft, especially when they keep getting finishes. Those that do, are often P4P stal*****.
