I don't believe it was his chin, I still believe Fury's nose was broken badly in the 8th restricting his breathing & gassing him in the 9th, he could barely punch in the 9th before Usyk had him flopping from rope to rope.

Just watched Rummys conclusion of the first fight, i was leaning towards Fury to set up the trilogy before watching that. You simply can't deny Usyk & his ability.

This is the fascinating part of elite heavyweight boxing. He got hurt and nearly knocked out and he absolutely has to be at ease with the possibility of it happening again or he won't win.

AJ gets so much criticism for being chinny but i'm always pretty impressed that vs Ruiz and Dubois he spent I dunno about 6 complete rounds trying to land the bingo punch whilst he himself was fighting a tip toe out of the shadow realm.

We already know Fury has no issues with this usually.

I'm sure he'd rather get chinned than lose wide on points.

Why do fan boys have to bring up the belt chucker in articles that have nothing to do with him?
He's a hype job that has never beaten a prime elite heavyweight & has only faced one in past his prime Usyk. He's shot now & so entitled to he wants Fury if he beats Usyk. Aj & Wilder ducked undesputed for years milking casuals fighting cans & shot old men avoiding big punchers, they only deserve each other.

It is interesting to see so many commenters these days with the lack of other boxing to talk about meaning, not enough fights and more talking, to speak from their bosses perspective, their paycheck, and not necessarily from their heart. It doesn’t seem as Lewis does that. Or at least not in this comment. We can’t be sure what Usyk will figure out bc Fury can adjust & think well also. Just not as sharp as Usyk. It would be hard to knock out a 6’9” man when you’re 6’3”. But if anyone could do it, Usyk can. Knowing how careful and strategic Usyk is I expect another decision win for him.

So Lewis was able to bounce back from two brutal ko’s to mid level heavyweights yet questions whether fury has been scarred from a close decision loss? Interesting.

Tyson Fury said he gassed because of his extra curricular activity and Usyk can't knock him out. I don't believe Fury is scared but he is trying to convince himself and Usyk that he'll be a better fighter and that may, or may not be true but IMO...if you have to say it 50 times , it's because YOU don't believe it.

As for the fight...Usyk does accumulative damage and if Fury expects to win on points he'll need the cooperation of the referee. In the first few rounds and we'll know if Usyk is fighting a 3rd man in the ring. As always, there is the possibility that Usyk can get clipped and if Fury follows up he'll put Usyk down. It's a tough call.

As for Lennox Lewis, he has a quiet meanness and his opinions are self centered projections onto other fighters and fights. It's what made him a great fighter but a terrible analyst. Fury on the other hand is a bullshyter that plays games to gain an edge...totally different approach, totally different style and that's why I take Lewis's opinions with a grain of salt.

About scarring from being hurt previously. I don't think I even said AJ was elite in my comment, ffs, just that he's a pretty good example of someone who gives himself a shot to win in fights he's hurt in.

There are mental gymastics involved for heavies than that 10 stone men that a lot of you lot have been arguing about for decades. Namely, it is likely that they can and probably will be knocked the f.uck out at some point.

I don't think he will have been scared.

We laugh about Deontay Wilder nowadays but 5 years ago he had a fearsome reputation based off his brutal knockouts, in the first fight with fury he legitimately Knocked Fury out for about 8 seconds and it was a miracle fury got up, but he did and he went into the rematch and went straight at Wilder.

Personally I just think Fury is past it and he himself knows his body isn't able to do quite what it used to.

I find it very hard to pick against Usyk in the rematch, he won first time and in my opinion he's a lot better preserved than Fury.

The one time I believe Fury is when he says "it's just a fight". The guy has been fighting his whole life.

He won't be scarred and he won't be scared. That vision of him being led back to his corner after the 9th is telling. That's as damaged as he's ever been and yet his response was to get back into the fight. He's passed that test.

I do think he's been humbled though and his pride (or arrogance) in his unbeatability was a big part of what made him who he was.

The most telling part of the first go around was a throwaway bit of promo content (I think it was with Adi on DAZN) where they played Fury one of the videos of Usyk saying “Don’t worry, I will not leave you alone.”.
Fury’s demeanour changed completely and instantly. “What did he mean by that?” was the first thing out of his mouth. And as soon as he opened his mouth, it was as if Usyk wandered in to his head and set up his new home in preparation for staying there rent free.
Time will tell if Oleksandr still has those keys come Saturday evening. For my part I suspect that he does.
