I know he wouldn't be a heavyweight today and he didn't have access to all the advancements in training and nutrition available today, but I think you could make a strong case for Rocky Marciano's conditioning near the top of that list.

If Usyk wins, there’s a real chance we will never hear the names “Fury” and “Joshua” and “championship fight” in the same sentence again. Same with “Wilder.” We need that. It’s time to turn the page on that era

Hurt him once with an uppercut and Usyk managed to avoid the follow up through the simple act of backing away. Fat lad Fury couldn't catch him to follow up.

Then Usyk came back when he was ready.

Fury being tired he chose to not risk chasing and wasting more energy. Only hothead bums like AJ chase and blow out. Fury has only developed his uppercut over the last number of years. It's also a punch someone like Usyk shouldn't really be walking into but it is a blind spot for him and the tactics he employed meant it was a risk he HAD TO TAKE. People need to understand the rounds Usyk was losing and taking punishment were educated risk rounds where he needed to zap Fury's stamina and he managed to achieve it with the help of a popped nose and phenomenal grit on Usyk's end. Fury's problem is once he tired (round 6 onwards) his power zaps pretty heavily and he is not going to stop Usyk on raw power alone. It's very unlikely Fury can stop Usyk on raw power it would take a special execution of fight from his end to achieve it and if he did achieve it then he deserves major props.

No matter how anyone wants to sleight either of these guys for men with that many hours in the ring at 36 & 37 they brought their physical best and it was TIGHT. It was close and Usyk's phenomenal 8,9,10,11 secured him the bout and Fury's lazy 1 & 2 cost him a draw.

This fight comes down to nuance and tiny margins. It's basically two men managing their stamina bar to edge a round here and there with the occasional danger of taking a big punch which does major round losing damage.

Nobody here can say after round 6 that things we're looking good for Usyk. He looked like he had hit a wall and was being kept at bay out of Fury's range but he pressed through and found a way to win with a tired Fury unable to keep him off.

I don't think either will be better in the rematch. I think it's going to be another SLOG for both. Fury looks tired in the face. He's trained hard for this and is hoping a little more stamina & focus can help him. Meanwhile Usyk will probably just look to avoid eating uppercuts.

I think Usyk is very comfortable avoiding those uppercuts. That was his adjustment from round 7 onwards.

Fury tried to press, but Usyk pushed him back by changing levels and going to the body. Fury adjusted by going for the uppercut which is a very safe shot from range for him if Usyk comes in low. Usyk adjusted and mixed it up to the head more with big overhand lefts (which Fury has always struggled with - he couldn't even stop Ngannou landing them).

It just feels like Usyk always had an answer whereas Fury didn't.

At this level that's what it comes down to. Both fighters had always found an answer. In the last fight Usyk showed that he still can, whereas Fury ran out of gas and ideas. It's still high level boxing from both, but at the very top level it's little adjustments that win out.

There are no excuses for Tyson Fury this time. He is a lot bigger, stronger and more powerful than Usyk and knows what to expect. He makes adjustments for southpaw stance and jumps all over Usyk.
