Comments Thread For: "Fighting Words" After Usyk-Fury 2, what and who comes next at heavyweight?

The two best heavyweights in the world are Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. The best heavyweight in the world is Usyk for at least another week, until Usyk either reasserts his status in their December 21 rematch in Riyadh or Fury regains the throne he lost in that same city by a narrow margin in May. What, then, comes next? And who?

I think Bakole or Dubois are the next two. I actually hope I am correct in this because these guys are also exciting!

The division after Fury/Usyk/AJ/Wilder looks like it is going to be boring again people diss each of them for certain reasons, but all 3 Fury Wilder AJ played their part in heavyweight division being watched by a bigger audience again.

Dubois is 27 i think he can dominate as doesn't seem like there is going to be much threat , Ituama is only 19 he could dominate, Jared Anderson is 25, it's how you come back from a loss has he got it in him to come back train harder and be a champ? The only thing with him i remember that Roy Jones talk, doesn't even seem like he is fully confident in himself.

Who else is there below 30 that could become the future 2 that people want to fight each other

Dubois doesn't want to go within 100 miles of Bakole. Bakole will kill & eat Dubois, that one isn't even competitive. In 3 years time Moses Itauma will be the champion. He has the fastest hands on a H/W since the late Michael Dokes sold his talent for a gallon of brandy & a grocery bag of *******.

An excellent year-end status briefing, and more really fine work by David Greisman.

This macro view article provides new or inattentive fans of the combat sports' major league sport, flagship division; with a detailed overview of where we are as 2024 leads into the new year, and the sport segues out of a fantastic era, and into what promises to become another, especially given the Saudi influence pacing the sport along.

Firstly Pulev!? Oh hell no, even in his prime he was average.
& Aj didn't have a rematch clause with Dubious, just 1 fight left on his contract with Rhiyad. He was still offered the rematch but ducked.....back of the line with Wilder, wink wink nudge nudge.
I think the trilogy is signed & sealed, & what gets me is nobody is writing that Fury could become 3 times! The real linear heavyweight champion of the world facing his 3rd world number 1. Yet when Aj went for his 3rd paper belt reign against Dubious (boxing no world number 1s) all these rags couldn't stop talking about it??
The fights id like to see out of all those names, Fury v Bakolie, 2 giant Walrus just leaning into each other.
& i want to see Wardley & Itauma step up another level, if the sparring stories are true Itauma has it. At 15 he was showing up after school & scrapping with the likes of Joyce & Bakolie.

Atm i have Dubious & possibly Itauma dominating the future, America, you need to step up your heavyweight game, the sport misses you.

If Fury wins and it is another fun fight, a rubber match makes all the sense in the world. If Fury wins by KO or in one sided fashion, I think a Joshua fight in England is a bigger money maker for Fury. If Usyk wins I am not sure a third match sells. I would rather see Usyk-DuBois rematch so Usyk can shut all these people up about DuBois "exposing" him and he gets to be undisputed again like he still should be.

As for all these other names, I like a lot of them going forward. Personally I kind of hope Usyk, Fury, Joshua and Wilder all call it careers soon. I do not want to see any of them getting damaged in the ring trying to fight one time too many.
